FROM THE DESK OF JOHN VANCE
The second half of the year has been off to a great start, with lots of travel with the family and growth at the office. As summer came to an end, the kids went off on their many adventures at the start of the school year. We said our biggest goodbye to Kate, who flew to Rome to study abroad for her entire sophomore year. While attending Temple University at the Rome campus, Kate has been taking weekend trips, learning Italian, and really thriving. She didn’t know a single person when she arrived, and it’s been incredible to see her bravery and capabilities as she sets out on this new adventure. Carmen and I can’t wait to visit her in the spring.
We also said goodbye to Lauren during our final parents’ weekend at Boise State. Lauren’s a senior, and we’re very proud to see her working hard and finishing strong. Our youngest, Addison, just started her freshman year at Saugus High School, and she’s off to a great start, getting involved on campus through theater. The house has been quieter as these kids are growing up way too fast.
Carmen and I have been keeping ourselves busy, too. We’re finalizing the details of our Cabo wedding in November, and we took a quick trip to meet our vendors, enjoy some food and cake tastings, and make sure everything is ready for our friends and family.
Amid planning and send-offs, I managed to sneak in a bucket-list trip to Pinehurst, North Carolina. Pinehurst Resort and Country Club has hosted a number of prestigious tournaments, including four U.S. Open Championships and a PGA Championship. Along with eight friends, I got to play the courses over five days — the same ones from the U.S. Open they hosted in June. It was really cool to watch the tournament in June, knowing we would be playing the course in the fall. The highlight of the trip was the last nine holes on Pinehurst No. 2, which was the same course from the tournament. I ended up shooting one over par on that back nine, and it was the perfect way to wrap up an incredible trip.
In addition to traveling with family, I took a couple of trips down to our Newport Beach office to connect with Tyler and some other professionals in the area. It’s been really great getting to know the community and supporting Tyler as he grows the business down in Newport. Many of our clients have watched us grow from a couple of employees in a small office to a team of 20 with multiple locations, and they appreciate our commitment to growth. We hope it gives you the confidence that we’re building a business to help you and your family achieve more for decades to come.
