Q: Is now a good time to invest?

Jerrod Ferguson: “The answer to this question always depends on one thing: When will you need to use the money? Once we know your time horizon and long term financial goals, we can determine how much risk you should take on those investments. If you’re going to be using the money for a very long-term goal like retirement, then yes, it’s likely a good time invest. If you need to spend the money more short-term, say in a handful of years, you’ll want to proceed carefully. Target more conservative funds and take less risk. There’s almost always an opportunity to invest because of the compounding effect of interest, but if you’re thinking short-term, you definitely want to have more of a dialogue about it with your advisor.”
